Prelim Exam - Recovery Run

Its still in the prelim exam period. I know I should not be tiring myself out but I am just itching for a run.

Yesterday, I did the outer lane of bedok reservoir. It was a torture. Straight on my first few strikes on the ground, I could feel my knee "dislocating". I tried to manage a slow and easy pace all the way after the slope. After that, I really give up and ended up walking the rest of the distance. I was feeling a bit breathless and my legs just could not support. Anyway, its just a recovery run after 5 days of no exercise.

So, I woke up early just to have a run in the morning. Then, it had to rain. I went back to sleep as well as study. So, in the afternoon, I really could not take it anymore and went over to bedok reservoir again for a short run. This time the inner gravel path, 4.3km. Woah, I could say the gravel feels soft and sort of wet from the rain. My legs still feel a bit tired but I pushed on with an easy pace. I thought the weather was quite nice until about halfway through my mouth felt parched. Anyway, I managed to complete the distance.

Initially, I planned of doing at least 2 rounds of bedok reservoir, 1 inner and 1 outer. However, the weather was quite hot and did not want to risk my life. Haha, I decided to proceed to the gym and bike. Its been a long time since I had biked. I biked for 15 mins and it was challenging yet fun.

Overall, it was a nice run and bike over these two days and i guess my legs deserve a rest for the next 2 days. =)

Saturday Morning Run

Early in the morning, at abt 7.30am, I went down to Bedok Reservoir for a short run. I did abt 1 and a half loop. I ran the 1st 5km in 27min 22secs. Did another faster 3km to Damai sec and back. I felt strong and still had lots of energy after the run. It was very unusual. This was because last night I slept quite late and I should feel very tired. Anyway, i estimated that my 10km timing have improved. Overall, it was a very satisfactory run =).

Training Run

During PE in school, Joel and i went for a short run. This is to prepare him for his upcoming impromptu 6km Singapore Bay Run.

We started at a very slow pace. After a few loops, I increased my pace to see how much I can endure at that speed. Joel was constantly pacing with me. The run ended with a final sprint towards the end after 10 loops. I felt that I would have been able to continue running at that speed. After that, I did my cool-down rounds. Overall, it was a very satisfying run. I am loving it~!

3rd East-Side Run

I woke up at about 6.30am to prepare for my 3rd east-side run. Quickly, I drank some milo and changed into my running gear and left home. My stomach was already feeling a bit uncomfortable.

When I reached Kembangan CC, Ripley, Yeohling and Modena were already there. They were chatting. The decided route was from the CC to ECP Car Park F2 and back. So, we started the run and both Modena and Yeohling sped off very fast, leaving behind Ripley and me. HockKai suddenly appear from the back and ask if we were from the Sgrunners. Ripley told him the route and he sped off. I maintained my pace all the way to ECP.

Upon reaching ECP, my stomach got more and more uncomfortable. I was not able to run and decided to visit the toilet before the seafood restaurant. I came out from the loo and proceeded with the run. My stomach was still uncomfortable but I persevered and made my way towards car park F2. When I was still on my way there, I saw Yeohling and Modena on their return route. Wow~! They are really fast. So, reached the place and u-turn. Wa... my stomach start to feel weird again. I decided to rest at one of the toilets and took a sip of water. Then, I saw Ripley on her return route and joined her back on a slower pace. She told me there was a water point for the army runners and got me some water. Thanks a lot~!

Ripley and I continued at the same pace out of ECP. After exiting from ECP, I felt much better and decided to increase my pace. I managed to cross the blinking traffic light, leaving Ripley behind. So, I continued my run at that faster pace. At that moment, the sun was already out. Despite of that, the weather was still nice. I tried to motivate myself to run. Finally, I finished at Kembangan CC. Both Modena and Yeohling were already there, doing their cool down. Modena treated us some drinks. Thanks a lot~!. Ripley then arrived with HockKai no where in sight. We chatted a while before we separated paths for home.

Overall, it was a nice and pleasant run. It was great meeting both Modena and Yeohling( fast runners). I am looking forward to the next East-Side Run~!

A Cooling & Nice Saturday Morning Run

I woke up at 7 am in the morning. Since yesterday, i have been thinking of going for a run today.
So.... washed up.... drank some milo.... change to my usual eastern lake singlet and adidas shorts, wore my asics shoes and went down to Bedok Reservoir for a run.

Upon reaching the reservoir, I did some light warm up and have the intention of doing perhaps a 8km- 10km run. So I started off along the pathway. I adopted a relatively normal pace as there was a slight ache on my right calf. When I turned in onto the gravel path, I was amazed by the condition of the path. I guessed it must be early morning rain that made the path quite wet and muddy. So, I ran cautiously to prevent myself from falling. Next, I went up the usual slope and saw a man replying to some birds which were chirping. Then, I carried on running and exited from the 'forest'. At that moment, my breathing was quite heavy as I started to increase my stride and pace. To motivate myself, I told myself that I have to reach Tropica then TP and then the finishing point. So, I tried to control my breathing and consistently tried to maintain at that relatively quick pace. Finally, I did the loop in a time of 25mins 34secs. Not bad, it is my personal best for this route. At that instant, I also told myself that I would continue with cool down instead of another loop.

I took a few sips of water and rest for a moment before I started my cool down. I slowly ran towards the turning point at the bus stop. My legs felt heavy as the lactic acid accumulate in my legs. Despite of that, I continued to run and turned back to the starting point.

After the run, I went back home, did some stretching and drank my gatorade.

Very Satisfactory run~! I am looking forward to tomorrow's east-side run with fellow Sgrunners.

My first post- Geylang Serai Consitituency Road Race

Yea~! I created a blog to post about my running adventures.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My first ever race-
4.3km Geylang Serai Constituency Road Race.
At 3.30pm, I wore my adidas adizero breeze and make my way down to Bedok Reservoir Park for the race. I registered in the Men's Junior category and got my race bib from the registration counter. The race bib number was 607.

After warming up for a while, the wave for my category started at 4.20pm. The weather was freaking hot and ice would melt immediately. I stood at the starting point and could feel the intense heat waves.

Beep~!, the race started. Everyone started to chiong. I tried not to be influenced by the faster runners and maintained my own pace. I intend to go at a 5min/km pace. The first few hundred metres felt good as I was playing some sort of catching with another young kid. I reached around the 2.4km mark and I checked my watch 11min 55 secs.... hmm, not bad. So, I tried to carry on the pace. As the race proceeds, my throat and mouth are getting more and more parched. Trying not to be affected by it... i tried to maintain my pace. However, the heat waves felt as if it was burning my skin and this caused me to walk for a moment as I felt uncomfortable. Nevertheless, I started to run again and less than 400m from the finishing line, I grabbed a bottle of water from the volunteers and drank some water. Yes.... finally I crossed the finishing line with a timing of 25mins 00secs exactly. I would say that I am glad to have finish the race in one piece but unhappy abt my timing. It was so way off target.

Event: Geylang Serai Constituency Road Race
